Welcome to our 2 bedroom, 2 bath, "15 Steps To The Shore", ground floor, Maui, beach, ocean front condo located at the Kanai A Nalu, in Maalaea. If you visit my condo during whale watching season (Nov - Apr), have the thrill of seeing them breaching out in the bay from our lanai. It's an unbelievable experience. Year round, watch turtles pop up in the waves, right out front.

One arrow points to our rare, double sized, corner lanai with breathtaking 360 degree views of Maui's entire south coast from Kihei to Wailea. Unlike other lanais that only seat 4, ours seats 6. We have one large table (seats 6) and a small table (for 2) + 2 Adirondack chairs.
Watch the sun rise over Haleakala with a cup of coffee, or welcome the sunset with a glass of wine while relaxing on the lanai. The living room has a queen sized sleeper sofa with a comfortable memory foam mattress. The condo sleeps six, plus a baby in our crib.
The dining table seats 6 and for little ones, there is a booster seat or a high chair. We have drawers of games and activities, sand toys, a stroller, baby gate and a pack-n-play. I have three grown children and six grandchildren, so families with kiddos are welcome.
There is central air conditioning in the living/dining room, the main bedroom and the 2nd bedroom. Each room has it's own Smart TV, for watching Netflix, Prime Video and other streaming services, plus three DVD / Blu-ray players. We have an assortment of DVDs.
Six ceiling fans, one in each room, including the bathrooms add to your comfort. The bathrooms have wall mounted hair dryers, designer towels, toiletries, hand held shower heads and, there's a tub for the little ones. The main bathroom has an oversized walk/roll-in shower that can accommodate a wheelchair. Lanai is level with the lawn; easy roll-off. Unit is wheelchair accessible, but not ADA compliant.
The main bedroom has a "Select Comfort" King size bed with digital remotes to adjust the firmness or softness on each side. There's a Smart TV, large closet and amazing views.
The 2nd bedroom has a Smart TV, central air and twins that can be made into a 2nd King. There are views of the pool, not of the noisy parking lot, where people walk by and can look in the unit.
The kitchen has upgraded appliances with a digital washer and dryer, dishwasher, a glass top stove and turn-table microwave. The double door fridge has filtered water and ice.

There's a solar heated pool, oceanside shower and stainless steel BBQ's all on 2 1/2 acres of lovely tropical grounds with orchids, banana and plumeria trees. Our original beach (in front of our complex) now has less sand, and more rocks due to sea level rise. But, just steps away, is the popular and "always sandy" Sugar Beach. It starts in front of the complex next door. Sugar Beach, is the longest beach on Maui. Please see all of our photos of this lovely beach.
It has soft white sand, and most of the year, calm waters where you can snorkel and see the Hono turtles (please keep required legal distance). Every year they lay their eggs along this beach. We have snorkel gear, lots of beach towels, boogie boards, swim noodles, beach chairs, ice chests more.
Our location is perfect. Maalaea is located in South Maui, halfway between each end of the island. It is a quiet area without the crowds of West Maui. We’re only 15 minutes from the airport, 10 minutes from Kihei, 15 minutes from the charming town of Paia (reminiscent of a little Lahaina), 15 minutes from prehistoric-looking Iao Valley, 18 minutes from Wailea for a luau and 20 minutes to upcountry for wine tasking, amazing restaurants, galleries' and shops.
Sadly, Lahaina's harbor still has not been rebuilt which has curtailed ocean activities from that location. My condo is just 1/4 mile from Maalaea Harbor, offering easy access to fun ocean adventures. At the harbor, book a whale-watching tour with the Pacific Whale Foundation, explore marine life on a snorkeling excursion, or indulge in a sunset, dinner cruise.
At the harbor is 4-star dining, Hawaiian themed shops, jewelry, clothing, hand crafted items, a night club, an ice cream parlor and the renowned Maui Ocean Center — Maui’s top attraction.

You can read our many reviews to learn what prior guests thought of their time at our condo and the complex. We have over 170 listed on this site, and over 240 on our VRBO site. We've added lots of amenities for our guests. Free parking just steps from the entrance of the condo.
Since 2005, we have been a legally licensed short term vacation rental. Besides this personal website, which is owner direct so no booking fees, I have our condo on VRBO. My license # is TA/GE-052-562-5344-01.
There is a form for a quote which will have the cleaning fee and taxes included so you can see the total cost before you book. Please use the form located on the "Calendar/rate" page. Our current nightly rates are shown on the calendar. There is also a $279 cleaning fee and the Hawaiian taxes (17.962%), which are not shown with with nightly rate. Our nightly rate is often adjusted due to discounting or changes due to demand, so please ignore the rates shown below.

2 Bedrooms • 2 Bathrooms 2 Baths • Sleeps 5-6 In addition to what is written above, here is a more detailed look at what my condo offers my guests. My description is long. A Maui vacation is a big expense. I've added lots of photos to help with your decision. I describe the benefits of our condo that sleeps up to 6 guests + a baby in the crib, and our lovely complex. On over two acres, with stainless steel BBQ's, an oceanside shower, a solar heated pool and pool-side eating area, all on a quiet cul-de-sac.
Owned since 2005, it's very personal to me. I've tried to make it the perfect Maui retreat for my guests and my family (3 grown children, plus 7 grandchildren). Children are welcome. We have a stroller, high chair, a Pac n Play, 3/4 size crib (with mattress & sheets), a booster seat, eating utensils/dishes for toddlers, a baby gate, sand toys and more.
Most people picture in their minds their “Dream” vacation, directly on the ocean, with magnificent sunrises and romantic sunsets. My condo could fulfill that dream. When you walk in and see the view of the ocean from the living room, you will be delighted. When you go outside, the spectacular views will take your breath away. Every morning, relax on the lanai watching the sun come up over Haleakala and sea turtles popping up in the waves, right in front!
During whale watching season (Nov - Apr.), you can see them breaching out in Maalaea Bay from our lanai. It's an unforgettable experience. My condo is 1/4 mile from the Maalaea Harbor for snorkeling, whale watching, dinner and sunset cruises. At the harbor are restaurants, a night club, Starbucks, mini-golf, hand crafted Hawaiian gifts, shops, the Pacific Whale Foundation and Maui's #1 attraction, the renowned Maui Ocean Center.
The ALWAYS sandy "Sugar Beach" starts right next door, just past our seawall. When the tide is out, it starts in front of our complex. This 4-mile long beach is a habitat for endangered Hawksbill Sea Turtles. They lay their eggs along the shore. Enjoy snorkeling there, and see the turtles (it's illegal to be closer then 10 feet).
Diane's Maui Vacation Rental has remote controlled central air. There is also a double sized lanai that seats six guests. Being on the corner it offers amazing, 180 DEGREE VIEWS of Maui's entire south coast. This ground floor condo is good for seniors, and children. It is just steps from a free parking spot. It has wide doorways and is also wheelchair accessible, but it is not ADA compliant.
There are 3 Roku Smart TV’s (for Netflix, Prime Video etc.), 3 DVD/Blu-ray players, fast, secure Wi-Fi and a printer, games, books, movies, ice chests, snorkel gear, legal body boards, noodles, beach towels and sand chairs. Enjoy two coffee makers, 1 for K-cups, and 1 for grounds, Ninja blender (for smoothies), a digital washer and dryer, new dishwasher, microwave, glass top stove, fridge with ice maker, filtered water, a vacuum, iron & ironing board. We have a wide slot toaster a toaster oven, dishes, pots, pans, wine glasses and more. We provide dish & laundry soaps.
Our condo has a "relaxed" island feel with bamboo and rattan furnishings. In the main bedroom is a "Sleep Number's" King. Each side can be adjusted to your desired firmness or softness. The 2nd Bedroom has twins that can be converted to a king. Both bedrooms have central air, Smart TV’s. In the living room is a Queen Sleeper sofa with a comfortable memory foam mattress. There is an extra fee for the 5th and 6th guests.
The main bath has an oversized, (wheelchair accessible) walk-in/roll-in shower, with both a hand held and a wall mounted shower head. The 2nd bathroom has a full-size tub (for the kiddos) with a hand-held shower head above, ceiling fans, makeup mirrors and wall mounted hair dryers.
About the Owner
I grew up in Southern California. When I was a small child, we camped on the beach (in tents) and later in trailers. I loved the beach. As an adult, I visited the Hawaiian Islands. I decided I had to one day own a beach front condo. I searched for years for just the right property. When this condo came on the market I begged, borrowed and talked my grown children into buying it with me. It didn’t take much to convince them. All they had to do was watch a Virtual Tour and they were hooked. After the purchase, we spent more money remodeling and decorating. I keep the tropical feel of the condo because that was what we fell in love with. This is a wonderful, relaxing, and inspiring place!! I can sit on the lanai and have views of the Maui coastline that goes on for miles, or I can watch the waves dance along the shore while my grandchildren play just a few feet away. It’s the Hawaii experience I saw in the movies. The experience I dreamed about. This is my piece of Paradise, that I now share with visitors to the island.
